Big Moss "The Competitor" Putting Green

The Competitor is Big Moss Golf's best-selling indoor putting green — built around three interchangeable hole sizes (2-inch, 3-inch, and regulation) so you can shrink the target as your stroke sharpens. Putting at progressively smaller holes is a mental-game technique professional golfers have used for decades, and the Competitor is the first practice green built around it.

Available in 3'x9', 3'x12' Pro, or the 3'x12' TW Pro (with two-way back-and-forth putting), each green ships with the full Big Moss kit — backstop, break pads, chipping mat, chipping balls, flag stick, and cup sleeves with plugs for every hole.

Big Moss The Competitor indoor putting green — 3ft by 9ft training green with 2-inch, 3-inch, and regulation cups for shrinking-target practice

Why The Competitor Is Big Moss's Best-Seller

  • Three cup sizes per green — 2", 3", and regulation, all interchangeable
  • Shrinking-target training — a pro technique that builds aim and confidence
  • Three size choices — 3'x9', 3'x12' Pro, or 3'x12' TW Pro (two-way)
  • Wrinkle-free rubber backing — lays flat over carpet or hard floors
  • High-density removable foundation — keeps the roll true on a stable base
  • Break pads included — slide under for hundreds of break variations
  • Stadium backstop — wraps the cup end and pins with golf tees
  • Chipping mat + balls — short-game work into the same green

How Shrinking-Target Training Builds A Better Stroke

The Competitor is built on a single idea — when you can roll the ball into a 2-inch hole, the regulation 4.25-inch cup looks twice as big on course. Start practice on the regulation cup to dial in pace. Plug it. Drop to the 3-inch hole and force tighter aim. Plug it. Finish on the 2-inch hole, where any push or pull misses. By the time you walk to the first green Saturday morning, the regulation cup feels enormous and your confidence on 4-to-6-footers is in a different place. The 3-foot width is intentionally narrow — it isolates pure pace and aim work without making the green feel like a chipping area. Pick the 3'x9' for a tight room, the 3'x12' Pro for serious lag distance, or the 3'x12' TW Pro to alternate direction on every putt for variety.

The Competitor Putting Green — Common Questions

How do the smaller cups actually work?+
Each hole on the green accepts three different cup sleeves — 2-inch, 3-inch, and regulation. You drop the sleeve you want into the hole, the others get sealed with included plugs so the surface stays flat. Switch between sizes mid-session: start big for pace, shrink down for aim, finish on the 2-inch for pure precision.
What's the difference between the 3'x12' Pro and TW Pro?+
The 3'x12' Pro has cups at one end — you walk back and reset after each putt. The 3'x12' TW Pro (Two-Way) has cups at both ends, so you can putt one direction, walk to the other end, and putt back the opposite way. The TW Pro doubles your reps per session and keeps the rhythm going without resetting balls.
Does it really lay flat over carpet?+
Yes — the rubber backing is engineered to grip carpet without curling, and the high-density removable foundation keeps the surface from compressing into low-pile carpet. The roll stays true whether you're on hardwood, tile, or carpet.
How do the break pads work?+
Break pads are firm foam wedges you slide underneath the putting surface to lift one side and create a slope — left-to-right, right-to-left, uphill, or downhill. Combine them with the shrinking-target cups for breaking-putt drills that force perfect aim and pace at the same time.
How fast does it roll?+
The Competitor surface rolls in the tour-green range — fast enough that a miss-hit shows up the same way it would on a real green. The high-density foundation keeps the stroke honest, so when you graduate to the 2-inch cup, only a square face and matched pace will drop the ball.
